Overview
Smart Verification is the fastest way to verify domain ownership. If your verified account email address matches the domain you're adding, the domain is verified instantly — no DNS records, file uploads, or verification codes required.
How It Works
When you add a domain in Dashboard → Settings, Verusight automatically checks your account email:
- You add
company.comas a new domain - The system detects that your account email is
[email protected] - Since the email domain matches and your email is verified, the domain is immediately marked as verified
- You see a success message: "Domain company.com verified instantly via email match!"
The entire process takes less than a second.
Requirements
All three conditions must be met for Smart Verification to work:
- Your account email must be verified — check for the email verification banner on your dashboard. If you see the banner, verify your email first.
- The domain portion of your email must exactly match the domain you're adding. For example:
- ✅ Email
[email protected]→ addingacme.com→ match - ❌ Email
[email protected]→ addingacme.com→ no match (subdomain) - ❌ Email
[email protected]→ addingacme.com→ no match
- ✅ Email
- The domain must not be a restricted type (see below)
Restricted Domain Types
For security reasons, Smart Verification is not available for certain domain types that could be shared across many organizations:
.edudomains (educational institutions).govdomains (government agencies).mildomains (military organizations).acdomains (academic institutions)
If you need to verify one of these domain types, use DNS TXT Verification or File Upload Verification instead.
Troubleshooting
| Error Message | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| "Smart verification is not available for this domain type" | The domain is .edu, .gov, .mil, or .ac |
Use DNS or file verification |
| "Please verify your email address first" | Your account email hasn't been verified | Check your inbox for the verification email, or request a new one from Settings |
| "Email domain does not match" | Your account email domain doesn't match the domain you're adding | Use Email Code, DNS, or File verification |
